Time is running out to meet the 1 September 2013 deadline
On August 13 2013 Bundaberg Regional Council launched its "Bundaberg Open for Development” package of incentives designed to stimulate development activity, economic growth and employment. A key incentive is the discounting of the adopted infrastructure charges or conditioned contributions
- 75% discount for development that starts construction after 1 September 2013 and is completed by 30 September 2014;
- 50% discount for development that starts construction after 1 September 2013 and is completed by 31 March 2015;
- 25% discount for development that starts construction after 1 September 2013 and is completed by 24 December 2015.
While the current focus for the development industry is on the 30th September 2014 as the date to complete developments to access the maximum 75% discounts for Adopted Infrastructure Charges, it is possible to overlook an important detail of Council’s scheme in that it is necessary to apply for the incentive before the 1 September 2014 deadline, irrespective of whether you expect to complete the project before the cut-off dates for the 25%, 50% or 75% discounts.
It is important to note that the incentives scheme is not just automatically applied to your development approval, and a separate application to access the incentives must be made.
